How to Create Your Very Own Coffee or Tea Bar at Home

Ever wake up and wish you could teleport your favorite cup of morning joe to your house? Do you dream of having one of those beautiful coffee/tea bars you see while surfing social media? Most think they don’t have enough space for a dedicated coffee/tea bar, but I’m here to tell you we can make your caffeine dreams come true. Let’s get started!

Create Your Own Coffee or Tea Bar at Home

First, let’s choose the location for your new coffee/tea bar. HINT: It’s doesn’t have to be in the kitchen. Many are electing to set up a small coffee bar in their master suite. In the kitchen, you can use a portion of your countertop, an armoire, a dedicated cabinet, a dresser, table or bar cart. Some people have opted to share their built-in bar with their java beans. If you have an unused nook with a minimum of 2 feet wide by 16 inches deep, you have enough space to create your personalized coffee/tea bar. Thrift stores are great places to look for the perfect piece of furniture for your coffee bar, if you don’t already have one. Adding a stone top to a dresser or table will help make your furniture piece more substantial and it’ll be heat resistant. It’ll also help make cleaning a breeze. You can shop for a remnant at your local stone yard.

Select a coffee maker, espresso machine, French press or Smeg tea kettle that will fit your space without overcrowding it. You’ll need to ensure you have an ample outlet to accommodate your new coffee maker or tea kettle, especially if you’ll be sharing the space with other appliances. Bonus points if you’ve got room for a milk frother/steamer!

If your space is open, adding shelves above your coffee/tea bar is next. Shelving is perfect to help balance your coffee bar, and they provide additional space for your canisters, supplies and personal touches.

Speaking of canisters, select some decorative canisters that compliment your surroundings. These canisters will display your coffee/tea essentials (coffee, pods, sugar, tea bags, hot chocolate, granola bars, tea biscuits (everybody needs a snack), etc.). Style your canisters on a shelf or a tray to help group and layer your pieces. Various sizes help to create visual interest.

Time to show off those pretty teacups and saucers, mismatched sentimental mugs, coasters, teaspoons, syrup, honey dispensers, etc. Style some of your teaspoons, syrups and honey straws in pretty jars and vases for easy access. Don’t forget to display some tall glasses and an ice bucket for those refreshing glasses of iced tea during the summer.

Add a small lamp with a soft bulb for ambiance. Artwork, a vase/pitcher with flowers or some greenery will add an elegant touch and viola, you’ve created and styled a stunning coffee/tea bar that’s uniquely yours!
